The OnePlus 8 Pro overtakes the Galaxy S20 + and the iPhone 11 Pro in the DXOMARK ranking July 15, 2020 – Posted in: Smartphone news

When presenting its new high-end smartphones, the Galaxy S20, the S20 + and the S20 Ultra, Samsung attached great importance to photo and video. The most expensive model, the S20 Ultra, has impressive cameras with a main sensor of 108 megapixels and a zoom that can achieve a magnification of 100 x. In practice, however, according to tests by the DXOMARK laboratory, the S20 would not exceed the photo and video performance of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro or the Oppo Find X2 Pro.

According to these tests, the Galaxy S20 + is behind the OnePlus 8 Pro. The laboratory has indeed published its review of the OnePlus 8 Pro and given this device a score of 119 points (average between photo and video), compared to 118 points for the Galaxy S20 + from Samsung.

A successful upgrade for OnePlus (and Xiaomi)

The S20 + photos scored 127 points compared to 126 points for the OnePlus 8 Pro. On the other hand, the OnePlus 8 Pro achieves a higher average thanks to a higher video score and ejects Samsung’s leaders from the top 10 best smartphones for photos and videos of the moment.

Reminder: The OnePlus 8 Pro has a 48-megapixel Quad Bayer main camera, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide angle and a 5-megapixel color filter camera. Thanks to this combination, which doesn’t seem very impressive on paper, the OnePlus 8 Pro also surpasses the excellent Apple iPhone 11 Pro. Otherwise, it is noted that the king of photos and videos on smartphones remains Huawei for the time being, whose P40 Pro and Honor 30 Pro + are number one and number two in the DXOMARK ranking.

The DXOMARK laboratory is often viewed as an industry benchmark to give an idea of the quality of cameras on mobile devices. However, it is quite possible that after using these models, the user may have a different opinion about the conclusions of the laboratory.
