Samsung can launch affordable Galaxy S20 July 15, 2020 – Posted in: Smartphone news
Given that the Galaxy S10 was entitled to a cheaper “Lite” version, Samsung fans are wondering whether the Korean giant will also offer an affordable version of the Galaxy S20 this year. And if the manufacturer has not yet given any information on this topic, rumors will circulate. This week, the Sammobile website publishes an article pointing out that Samsung should offer this affordable version of the Galaxy S20. However, the name may not be “Galaxy S20 Lite”, but “Galaxy S20 Fan Edition”.
In any case, it would be a successor to the Galaxy S10 Lite. Reminder: This model was introduced so that Samsung fans can use certain functions of the premium product range on cheaper smartphones. Sammobile states that Samsung will typically offer three versions of the S20 Lite or S20 Fan Edition and that the device will be available in 4G and 5G versions. The internal storage would include at least 128 GB of storage.
Snapdragon 865 processor?
Of course, we expect the data sheet of this smartphone to be more modest than that of the Galaxy S20. However, we can hope that the S20 Lite or the S20 Fan Edition will be equipped with the same processor, the Snapdragon 865, which is used by most high-end devices in 2020 (for the S20, Samsung offers variants with a Snapdragon Processor and others with an Exynos equivalent). Reminder: The Galaxy S10 Lite uses the same Snapdragon 855 processor as the S10. The Korean giant would also be able to equip this light version of the Galaxy S20 with a mid-range smartphone processor.
In any case, this model could enable Samsung to increase sales in the middle segment. If devices like the Galaxy A51 or Galaxy A71 sell well enough, a lite version of its flagship could further increase the manufacturer’s market share. The S20 Lite or the S20 Fan Edition could also position themselves as one of the main competitors of the iPhone SE 2020 and the future OnePlus Z.
