Exciting New Details About Name Of Upcoming Apple iPhone 2021 July 13, 2021 – Posted in: Smartphone news

Apple blogs are abuzz over a recent supply chain check run by the Economic Daily News which suggests the new iPhone will likely follow the same naming structure as the iPhone 12. The yet-unconfirmed phone is expected to be named the iPhone 13 with similar variations of size options being noted as “mini,” “Pro” and “Pro Max” like the iPhone 12 series.

This report is based on information from the supply chain Hon Hai that has begun its initial stages of stocking the products. Though claims about the iPhone series’ names and dimensions aren’t officially confirmed, Hon Hai was also the main assembler for the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, so its ability to forecast Apple insider information can’t be denied.

The speculative name has caused some heated debate, with a 3000-person survey conducted by SellCell finding 74% of users disliked the name “iPhone 13.” Some cited superstition as the reason for their distaste, while others preferred the name “iPhone (2021)” or wanted to bring back the “S” suffix to make the new model the “iPhone 12S.”

While there’s a lot of information swirling around about the new iPhone, at this point it is all 100% speculation. Still, claims based on leaked production info have proven to be pretty accurate in the past, so we’re expecting Apple’s eventual announcement to be fairly close to the following info:

Expected Release Timeline

In a research note, Wedbush analyst Dan Ives claimed that the iPhone 13’s announcement date will likely be in the third week of September. Prior to 2020, Apple was known to release its new iPhones in September, so returning to this timeline would make sense for the upcoming iPhone 13.

Apple also tends to announce new iPhones on Tuesdays, so if this trend continues then Ives speculates the iPhone 13 will be unveiled around September 14th with pre-orders opening on the upcoming Friday the 17th and releases scheduled for the following Friday the 24th.

How Much Will it Cost?

A report from market research company TrendForce indicates the iPhone 13 is expected to run for a similar price range as last year’s iPhone 12. For reference, the base iPhone 12 sold for $799, the Pro started at $999, the mini at $699 and the Pro Max at $1,099.

If you’re looking to upgrade to either the iPhone 12 or 13, you may want to wait for Apple to release the official prices to see if you can get more bang for your buck with a newer model at a similar cost.

Features to Look Out For

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who generally leaks reliable information about upcoming products, thinks the iPhone 13 series will have an in-screen fingerprint scanner with faster chips and higher-quality cameras, though the general appearance is expected to be comparable to past models.

According to MacOtakara, the iPhone 13 likely has a smaller notch display at the top of the front screen and a smaller Face ID sensor to make for a smaller cut-out. Multiple other reliable sources including Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo have hinted at a possible shrinkage of the phone’s notch, so this information has solid potential for being accurate.
