CES 2020: getting started with TCL's foldable smartphone

TCL said it has a dozen foldable designs, some functional, others at the design stage, not just phones. There is no exact price or release date or even name for this foldable phone, but it should arrive this year with more reasonable pricing positioning than current models.

This prototype is quite square, it opens like a wallet and has a 7.2 inch plastic screen. Unlike other foldable phones, it has enough tension to stand on its own, regardless of the screen opening angle. Small feature, because of its relatively square shape, it seems quite natural to hold it in both directions. The experience itself was a bit hit and miss. The software was slow and often hung on the screen. You could even hear the device creak when opened. But remember that this is only a prototype.
